Videos > Are you getting burned out?

Hey what’s up guys! I’m going to get you started off with a quote by this dude named Jim Rohn. He said, "We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret." what do you think about that. Ponder that for a sec. If we don’t learn to manage our own minds and bodies, they can end up taking over, like a wild animal running amuck. That basically means that you have to learn give energy to things that are meaningful, instead of just feeding your life a constant diet of nonsense and popcorn. That’s why it’s so great that you’re here! You are in the right place, Doing the right things that will help you create something real.

But let’s get to your question.  You asked, “How Can I Stop Feeling so Overwhelmed and Burned Out?” and I’m freaking hyped to help tackle this with you right now, and give you some tips on how to manage your life in an amazing way.

I promise I’m not here to just tell you to “be mindful, or to breathe”, or whatever. But, what I'm here to tell you is how to be wise, how to pick and choose, how to build the kind of strength that lets you handle life’s challenges with resilience.  My goal is to help you build your mental fitness! Think of me as your mental physical trainer. To increase your emotional muscles, and to focus your vision on the things that matter, and to set aside, and sacrifice, the less valuable things.

Remember, you are building the foundation of your life.  You are carving the boat that will allow you to set sail, explore the oceans, and live an awesome adventurous life! Your education, your ability to navigate relationships successfully, and developing an awesome character and psychology are top on that list, and that’s why I’m so happy that you’re here!

So let’s get to those tips so that you can start ASAP!

  1. Discover the power in power naps:  Sometimes feeling burned out just means you need a little nap.  Power naps are amazing, they can immediately rest your body and mind, and give you a quick boost of energy.  20 minutes max!  Power naps are peak because when you nap for longer periods, your body enters deep sleep mode, which then makes you feel more groggy. But don’t nap after 3 or 4, because that can affect the quality of your sleep that night, and that's something you don’t want to mess with.

  2. Give your body some fuel:  Sometimes feeling burned out just means you’re tired and low on energy.  Give your body some good food, and hydrate it. And no, that doesn’t mean the three main food groups: Candy, Candy Corn, and Syrup. Be realistic, your body is the most sophisticated piece of machinery in the universe, and it needs some good fuel.

  3. Exercise:  I know this might sound crazy, but you can’t deny the overwhelming evidence that shows that when you exercise, you feel happier, less stressed, more energetic, and your body works better. Remember that your body is an instrument and needs some sharpening and tuning, and exercise is the way to keep that amazing body of yours alive, instead of dragging… start now, today, this week, whenever, but start… wanna make it even better?  Do it with a friend, it will change your life.

  4. Bruh!... Ask For Help Already!   Feeling burned out doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to stop something, or quit something.  Sometimes it just means that you need a little help.  It’s easy to feel burned out when you are behind or not understanding a topic, or if you feel things are out of your control… the key here is to get back in control, or at least focus on the things that you can control… and trust me when I say this part is pretty important… when you believe that there is nothing that you can do… that you are powerless and hopeless, you start to feel overwhelmed and burned out super quickly.  But when you realize that ‘you can do something’, and that ‘something is doable’, then you’ll feel motivated again.  This means that you have to ask for a little help… for a little clarification… for what steps you need to take, and then, well, then you need to stop acting like a bot and instead become the main character and take action.. And listen… become the man and woman of your dreams and take action, because nothing heals burn-out and overwhelm more than direct and purposeful action!

  5. Remember these little bits of soul food:  “One Step At A Time,” and “Trust The Process.”  Just hear me out bro.  Instead of trying to fix everything inside of your head… don’t… Instead, just create a little list… make it visual, put the steps down in front of you, put them on the notes of your phone, and then tackle them one at a time.  When we are trying to make things work inside of our head, we can become overwhelmed super quick by how much needs to be done, and then we just get paralyzed and frozen, and nothing gets done.  Write it down, and then go one by one… start where you are… narrow your focus a bit, and walk the line my friend.  One last thought!  Remember that sometimes your feelings are like dashboard lights on a car. They’re warning you and telling you to do something… to act.  My hard rockin’ amigo, taking intelligent and effective action is often the solution to your feelings of overwhelm and stress.  Not avoidance or procrastination, because that just adds to the stress.  Take a step, then another, then another… and trust the process! Don’t forget to celebrate the little victories!

  6. Schedule time for fun and friends:  Remember that happiness creates success, so make sure that you sprinkle your life with things that are fun, that make you laugh, that allow you to chill with friends, that help you feel excited. Whether that’s reading, running, climbing, listening to some tunes, being with friends & family, camping, biking, etc… start now, and build a beautiful balance of fun, friends, and work into your life.

And lastly Discipline your body and mind:  Hey, guys! You’ve probably heard about the marshmallow experiment where kids were given one marshmallow and told if they waited, they'd get two. Simple, right? One treat now or two later. The kids who waited? They crushed it later in life, they are going places lemme tell you. Showing that delaying gratification leads to long-term success.  Here's the takeaway: success often means choosing the harder right over the easier wrong. So take care of your body, sharpen your mind, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. You’ve got this—make those tough choices today, and finish what you started.  Good luck! Peace!
