What's up guys!!! Welcome! Ok, your question today is “How to get motivated?” Thousands of you are asking, and today, I’m going to give you tips you can start using right away, that will work now and long-term. This isn’t a pill or shot of adrenaline, don't you fret!!! But instead these are a set of skills and ideas that have been inspiring humanity for thousands of years. The problem of motivation isn’t new. Whether in school, at work, in sports, or art, even the greatest athletes and artists struggle to find that spark, that energy, that drive that moves them to succeed and overcome challenges. My friend, you’re not alone in this—you’re in great company. This is a challenge you must face and work through, and today I’m giving you some things to help. I’m not saying I know everything—you probably have things that work for you, so keep doing those! I’m just here to add some wisdom from my 17 years of life that’s helped others reset, get hyped, and break through the staleness that comes when we feel overwhelmed, stressed, or stuck. Imagine hitting a big red "RESET" button—that’s what today is all about.
Okay, let me first start with the big 3: “The What” “The Why”, and “The How”
-
“The What” is simply deciding what you want. Maybe it’s “I want good grades,” “I want more friends,” or “I want to be happier.” What do you want? It’s okay to wander, but don’t make that your entire existence. Your brain works better when it has direction, or a goal, or a plan. That’s what this first step is about.
-
The next step is “The Why.” Why do you want something? Some answers may seem simple, but try to connect “The Why” to what you’re doing. This helps you realize you’re not just passing time or doing what others want—you’re doing things that matter to you. Find your “why” in what you do.
-
The final step is “The How.” Let’s be real—there’s no substitute for action. To get better at anything, you have to do it. Practice makes perfect. When you lean into something, you’ll find mastery, enjoyment, and achievement.
Let me give you a couple of other suggestions that will help to add some fuel to your fire, and get that miraculous mind and body of yours to move forward and upward:
-
Start where you are, not where you think you should be, or where others think you need to be. That’s reasonable, right? If your grades are struggling, start there. Talk to your teacher, ask for help from the counselor, arrange tutoring, and schedule study time. Start right here, and work the problem.
-
Start small… but start! Sometimes starting is the hardest step. We don’t start because we feel overwhelmed, too far behind, embarrassed, or powerless to change the outcome. But don't you dare tell yourself that you are powerless. Because that is a lie!!! Even if your brain or others tell you it won’t change, don’t believe it. Your actions and effort matter, and you can change the outcomes in your life. Remember this, and let it sink into your mind and heart.
-
Get help! We all need it from time to time. In school, I used to try to handle everything on my own—homework, tests, projects. But I quickly realized that wasn’t working. So, I started teaming up with friends. It made everything so much easier, kept me motivated, and honestly, it made the whole experience way less stressful. So find someone to help you out. Seriously, asking for help isn’t a weakness, it’s a smart move. Time to drop the “I’ve got this alone” mindset and get some support!
-
Along with getting help is creating accountability. When you let coaches, parents, friends, or other trusted people into your goals, you build a source of accountability, power, and motivation. It’s not just you against the world—it’s better and more enjoyable with a team to inspire, push, and motivate you. Find these people and create accountability in your life.
-
And lastly, work the problem! Sometimes things don’t work out. You climb and fall, study and fail, and try and face rejection. These painful experiences are essential—they teach you what works and what doesn’t. Keep your mind sharp and your heart open, so when things don’t go as planned, you can maintain a Growth Mindset and keep going.

Do it with a smile, knowing that all of your experiences—good and bad—are adding to your wisdom, knowledge, success, and compassion. You have everything you need to succeed.
